When I knew what was left

I’d recoil and catch my breath

You’re so devastatingly

Free of all desire to flee

Lovesick debris, curious and cheap

On the curb it gleams

Rotten and pristine

Fire the guns with blasting caps

When you’re done, time for a nap

All our shields could not contain

What rained over us today

Lean your head away from the barricade

Dream of light that never fades

When you awake the fever breaks

Like a tidal wave

The title comes from the style Jen played when we rehearsed this song at our practice space on W. North Ave. Very "Nursery Cryme"-ish, all these quick little fills. She toned it down a lot for the recording, so you don't get the same feel as when we played it say six months previous. I don't know how to play keyboards, but I've developed some 'overtonal' technique that lets me fake it.
