No, I can’t see the future

All my memories are shrouded

There’s no food left in the larder

No per diems, no safe harbors

The word came down from Providence

All able-bodied men must arise

A curse and blasphemy is upon the land

We’re besieged from all sides

Would you think about it?

No commodities, no bother

And our debts will lead to slaughter

Little Shrub consumed with ardor

Camel dung for cannon fodder

Greetings from a slow-decaying
Pax Americana on the slide

Who knows ten years from today what evil
will hold sway amid the slime

Would you think about it?

Would You
Think About It?

Now we're spiraling deep into the dark heart or Pax Americana. Written from a first person p.o.v. ten years from now (I can't help but steal concepts) “Think About It” was a Catamount song with improvised lyrics that we played live but never recorded. I needed a musical framework to vent my spleen politically, and there it was. Now I don't claim to be a topical songwriter, so if it's hard to discern what I'm talking about, it's my bad. I'm trying for impressionistic everyday images of instability and chaos, be it socio-political, economic, psychological, etc, etc. Jen Schmidt returns on drums! This song marks the first time I've ever recorded with a Marshall amplifier (guitar solo).
